2018 Volunteer Appreciation Week11/21/2018 by Rebecca Toews
We are THANKFUL for YOU!
The smell of French toast. The sight of beautifully decorated tables. The sound of lively conversation and laughter. The taste of real cream for your coffee! All signs it must be Volunteer Appreciation Week at Bridging!
During this season of Thanksgiving, we like to pause and celebrate our amazing volunteers for two full weeks – one week in Roseville (Oct. 29) and one week in Bloomington (Nov. 12). What fun we had! Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude! Even Founder Fran, our # 1 volunteer, made it to 7 of the 8 breakfast events this year! His inspiring words and smiling face motivate us all to serve our mission well each and every day.
Did you know…
In 2017, 788 individual volunteers donated 63, 714.65 hours to Bridging? That’s 81% of all volunteer hours in 2017. Combined with group volunteer hours, it would take 39 full time employees to replace our individual volunteers. It could not be done without YOU!
Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
We are thankful for our volunteers’ hearts full of grace and souls generated by love. We are thankful for generosity, passion and an overwhelming desire to make the world a better place. Each day our volunteers fill HOMES WITH HOPE and make a difference in the lives of Bridging clients. For that, we are eternally grateful!
Happy Holidays to you all,
Wendy Erickson, Roseville Volunteer Coordinator
Sara Felix, Bloomington Volunteer Coordinator
