Bridging Surpasses 2018 Spring Appeal Goal!06/01/2018 by Rebecca Toews
“From the moment we stepped into the lobby, to the moment we left the building, we were impressed with the respect, dignity, compassion, understanding and warmth of all of the people who were working. Our hearts were filled with gratitude for Bridging and for the community in which we live, that helps those who need assistance.”
Those are the words of a recent Bridging client who received a basic home setup to furnish their home. The above quote is the reason we do what we do, and one of many reasons donors chose Bridging to give their dollars to our spring appeal campaign.
Between May 1st and May 31st, we had a goal of raising $31,000, to be matched by two generous donors. Once again, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. With your help, we met our $31,000 match and kept going, raising $44,869.41*!
Among the thousands of families we are grateful to serve, we see the opportunity for hope and second chances. Michelle tells one such story. Eight years ago, she became sober. After treatment and nearly a year in a halfway house, she moved into sober living and got her 11-year-old daughter back.
“Bridging meant everything to us— it really made all the difference in the world. It’s the little things that many may find insignificant that make it feel like a home… After all these years, I have kept the dishes and one piece of furniture that Bridging gave to me. I keep them to remind me of how far I have come.”
We are so grateful to have a community that surrounds us with support so that we are able to help more than 4,400 households each year. So whether you were inspired by your own personal story, or the story of Michelle, we appreciate your support.
* donations indicating they are for Spring Appeal and postmarked before May 31 will still be counted toward this appeal.
