“I hit a wall, and I just had to basically decide I didn’t want to keep living that way…”

For Eva, Christmas had always been a magical time, filled with decorating gingerbread cookies with her father and mother. But faced with homelessness after a series of emotionally devastating experiences, Eva knew that something had to change. With the help of a social worker, she was able to repair her relationship with her parents and get the treatment she needed. Now Eva is living on her own for the first time, and looking forward to many more years of independence and holiday celebrations.

“No matter how difficult it is, or how painful it is– I have to continue my life. You know? It’s [this furniture is] a symbol. I’m starting over.”
