When good people get together to do good things, then good things happen.

We rely on volunteers to do just about everything at Bridging. In addition to being a great way to give back to those in need, volunteering is a terrific opportunity for team building, socializing and staying active. Without your help, we simply could not help those in need throughout the Twin Cities.

How do I get started?

Individual Volunteering at a Warehouse

Where: Roseville or Bloomington warehouse

Join the core team of volunteers at Bridging who are vital to our ability to operate each and every day! Interested volunteers are invited to attend a brief introduction tour prior to their first day of service to learn more about the volunteer program and opportunities. Tours are offered weekly.

Select from a variety of departments and offer up your talents and skills:

  • Warehouse assistant
  • Shopping assistant
  • Product sorting
  • Office support
  • Woodworking shop
  • Electrical shop
  • Building maintenance
  • Transportation team
  1. All shifts are scheduled in advance. Complete the online Volunteer Profile prior to your first day.
  2. A minimum commitment of 20 service hours is required, over 6 months or a semester (~ 7 shifts, 3 hours each).
  3. All volunteers must be 14 years of age or older (with or without an adult).

Group Volunteering (Teams of 5 - 25 people)

Where: Roseville or Bloomington warehouse
Group Size: 5-25

Ready to get out and motivate your team? Looking for a meaningful project that will make a noticeable difference in three short hours?

Help us load/unload trucks, sort through donated goods, inspect linens and restock shelves for client shopping. Specific projects will be determined on the day you volunteer based on inventory and final group size. You will have a lot of fun and keep busy while making a big impact in a short amount of time!

  • Year-round openings. (Limited Saturday shifts.)
  • Available weekday shifts, Tuesday-Thursday: 1 – 4 pm, 2 – 5 pm OR 4 – 6 pm.
  • All shifts are booked in advance. Confirmation details will be sent to the group coordinator so you can easily share with the team!

Sponsor a Dresser Build - at Bridging or your location!

Location: Roseville, Bloomington, OR a location of your choice.
Group Size: 10 – 400+

Buy and build dressers for those in need. A terrific team-building activity! Great for a wide variety of ages and skill set.

  • Teams purchase new dresser kits for $95 each.
  • Kits are in stock at Bridging.
  • All necessary tools and directions provided. No experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 dressers per project is required for building at Bridging.

Minimum of 50 dressers required for an off-site build. Surcharge applies for staffing and logistics. Host an all-ages and family-friendly event at your location!

Host an Essentials Drive: Blankets, Towels, and Kitchen Packs Wanted!

Location: Off-site at your work, school, faith-based organization and in your community.

Organize a drive today!  Help us stock the shelves so we can serve over 300 people every week. Essential Drives allow us to fill the gaps in donations and make sure families have what they need to fully function in their new home.

  2. New or gently-used items accepted.
  3. Promotional support and templates available for each type of project.
  • BLANKETS: All sizes (twin, full, queen and king) wanted new or gently used. We need over 300 blankets per week.
  • TOWELS: All sizes and types wanted. Our goal is to provide one bath towel per person – that’s over 14,000 towels a year!
  • KITCHEN PACKS: We need over 85 packs per week to give every home a set. Packs include: can opener, mixing spoon, spatula and dish towel/cloth.

Organize a Community Canvassing Event

Where: In a neighborhood of your choice.

Change the world one door at a time! Help us create awareness about all of our needs across the Twin Cities. We help you determine the geographical boundaries; often times your local community is a great place to start.

  • Bridging provides the door hangers and you provide the volunteers.
  • No doorbell ringing involved! It’s a great way for your team to stay active year-round.
  • Group size: good for 3 people or 30! All ages.

How it all began! The Story of Bridging – 32 years and going strong!

It's official!  As of July 2019, Bridging is 32 years-old and still serving its mission with great enthusiasm each and every day. Thanks to our Founder Fran Heitzman, his incredible vision and passion has driven our community of volunteers, donors and staff for more than thirty years.
